From the Wayne County News, dated Friday May 31, 1935.  Jasper N. Bromley Dies Thursday A.M. 
Successful in Business and Politics. Funeral be this Afternoon.  The hundreds of friends of Jasper
Newton Bromley will be grieved to learn of his death. Thurs day morning. shortly after midnight at
his home at Morrow's Valley near the home of his son, Fred BROMLEY.  Mr. Bromley was born on Butler's
Creek, April 21, 1862 where he resided until he was 27. He then went to Marshall, Arkansas, where he
made his home, entering the mecantile business.  In 1893 he was elected sheriff of his county and
served for one term. Later he was again elected to that position and served for the next three
succesive terms. In 1918 he was elected county judge and served in that capacity for two years. 
After his tenure as judge he returned to his native county of Wayne and purchased a farm at Martins
Mills and resided there until serveral years ago. In the republican primary of 1926, Mr. Bromley won
the nomination for judge of Wayne County over E.V.Turman and F.B. Hurst, but was defeated in the
regular election J.W. Mayberry. In November, 1933, he entered the race for county trustee but later
withdrew on account of his health.  Mr. Bromley and Miss Lavana Morris, of Marshall, Arkansas were
married in 1889.  Surviving Mr. Bromley are the following, his wife, two sons, Fred of this county,
and Dolph of Delano, California; a daughter. Mrs. Kate Mills of San Antonio, Texas; two brothers,
Dolph of Iron City and Sam of Butler's Creek; a half-brother. G.W.Sweeney of Nashville; two
half-sisters, Mrs. Laura Hamm of Walnut Grove, MO. and Mrs N. D. Stults of Nashville and many other
relatives of this county.  He was a long and guiding light of the republican party. A member of the
Methodist church and a prohibitionist. From early life he has been very successful in the
accumulation of the worlds goods.  Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock
at the Cedar Grove Cemetery on Forty-Eight by Rev. G.W.Roberts, of Collinwood and Elder J.N.Erwin, of
Hardin's Creek. Burial in the Family lot.  Noah Legg, of Harris, Legg & Williams, in charge of
arrangements.
