Victor,Orville James:Editor and Author,was born in Sandusky Oh.
 Oct 23 1827; son of Henry and Gertrude (Nash) Victor grandson of
 David and Jane (Brady) Victor and Thomas and Mary (Horton) Nash,
 of patriotic Revoluntionary ancestry.He graduated from the seminary
 and Theological institute of Norwalk Oh  B.D. 1847.was a contributor
 to various magazines 1847-1861,assoc.editor Sandusky Daily Register,
 1851-1856.He was married July 2 1856 To Metta Victoria, daughter of
 Adonajah and Lucy Fuller.He edited the Cosmopolitan Art Journal  1858-
 1861,and in 1858 removed to New York City where he edited the United
 states Journal until 1860,The Beadles and Adams publications 1862-
 1880,Beadles Magazine Of today 1865-1866,Western World 1869,
 Saturday Journal 1872-1880,and many others.He served as representative
 of the Assoc. Publishers of New York City in opposing legislation aimed at
 second class matter in the U.S.Mail.he was an Author of several books
 and biographies of notable persons including John Paul Jones,Ethan Allen
 and others.He was the author of History of the Southern Rebellion (4 Vols)
 1862-1866 and other Civil War books.He was still alive and residing in
 Hohokus NJ in 1903.
 He also was with the Publishing firm of Adams and Victor at 88 Madison
 St in N.Y.City.In the 1870 Census Bergen Co NJ Hohokus It lists Orville
 as an editor with real estate worth 25.000 dollars and personal property
 worth 2500 dollars.In the household also is a governess b NY and 2 domestic
 servants born in Ireland.He was a wealthy man for his time.



In 1905 when Orville sold his Estate "The Terraces" in Saddle River near
 Hohokus NJ he still had 4 of his unmarried daughters living with him.Two
 others had died prior to 1900 unmarried.His married daughter Lillian was
 living Next door.Orville"s Wife Metta had died of cancer in 1885.



Orville Victor's Saddle River Home is now on the National Historical
 Registry of Stone House's in NJ.It is still in good shape having been
 built in the 1840's and he purchased it in about 1862 and lived in it
 until he sold it in 1905.
