Research Notes -- David G Brewer
From Scott Bumbaugh:

Nellie Belle Bumbaugh was born 22 April 1881 in McKeesport, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and died
18 September 1948 in Grandview, Washington County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of John Wesley
Bumbaugh and Malissa J. Schnatterly.

Nellie first married Frank Butler on 16 April 1903 in McKeesport, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
Frank Butler was born 5 October 1879 in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. [I don't know if Frank died,
or if he and Nellie divorced. I have not been able to ascertain whether they had any children.]

Nellie then married Frank Baldwin about 1909. Frank Baldwin was born about 1873 in Pennsylvania, and
died 8 April 1951. Nellie and Frank Baldwin had two children:

1.) Myrtle L. (P.) Baldwin, born about 1911, probably in Carroll Township, Washington County,
Pennsylvania. She married William Hunt.

2.) Robert Baldwin, born about 1924, probably in Washington County, Pennsylvania.

Information on first marriage to Frank Butler is from marriage license information from the Allegheny
County, Pennsylvania Courthouse in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The marriage is registered in Series E
#7096 volume 62 page 816. They were married by James E. Walker.

The question is, when did Frank and Nellie get a divorce, and where? Or did he die before 1909? By
1910, Nellie is married to Frank Baldwin.

Both the young people are popular. The bride is one of the willing workers in the various societies
of the Atlantic Avenue United Presbyterian church.

Wedding announcement in "The Daily News", McKeesport, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, dated Friday,
17 April 1903. It reads: Butler-Bumbaugh Wedding. The home of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Bumbaugh, West
Fifth avenue, was the scene last evening at 8 o'clock of a pretty wedding event when Rev. James E.
Walker, pastor of the Atlantic Avenue United Presbyterian church, performed the ceremony uniting in
marriage their daughter, Miss Nelle Bumbaugh and Mr. Frank Butler. There was a large crowd of
relatives and intimate friends present and after the nuptial knot was tied an excellent wedding
supper was served and a reception held in honor of the happy couple. Both the bride and groom are
popular and well known, the bride being an energetic church worker and a member of the choir of the
Atlantic Avenue United Presbyterian church. For the present the bridal pair will board, but as soon
as a suitable house can be obtained they will go in housekeeping.
