Genealogies of the First Settlers of Passaic Valley, by John Littrell 1852

Elizabeth Bonnell who married Gabriel Friend was the daughter of Capt. Nathaniel and Elizabeth
(Allen) Bonnell of New Providence, NJ. and was born there in August 1769.  Also, the records of the
New Providence Presbyterian Church show that she was baptized there on 15 October 1769 and that she
was married there to Gabriel Friend on 29 July 1787.

Gabriel and Elizabeth settled in Friendsville, MD.  Elizabeth's sister, Jane, who married Samuel
Crane, settled in what is now Cranesville, WV only 10 miles south of Friendsville, MD and just actoss
the state line.
