Hans Melville Hardman was born 11 December 1878 in Lyon Township, Preston County, West Virginia, the
son of Hans Roland Hardman and Caroline Frances Bumbaugh.  About 1901 (and probably in McKeesport,
Allegheny County, Pennsylvania), he married Margaret L. (surname unknown).  Margaret was born 6
October 1879 in Pennsylvania, and died 12 September 1969.  They had three sons:
 
1.)  Paul A. Hardman, born about 1902, probably in McKeesport, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
 
2.)  Thomas J. Hardman, born about 1906, probably in McKeesport, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
 
3.)  George A. Hardman, born about 1909, probably in McKeesport, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.

The 1880 US Census indicates the name as Malvin Hardman.  Phyllis Jeanne Hardman Garrison indicates
his name was Melville.
 
1910 census for 2nd Ward McKeesport, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, page 56, lines 76-79, dated 19
April.  It lists Melville H.  Hardman (aged 30, married once for 9 years; born in PA; parents born in
PA; moulder in the iron foundry); wife Margaret (aged 30, married once for 9 years; born in PA;
parents born in PA); son Paul A. (aged 8, PA); son Thomas J. (aged 4, PA); and son George A. (aged
12/12 months; PA).  Margaret indicated that she had had three children, all living.
