Ellen Flynn Moats
Mapletown U.M. Church member, Greensboro resident
Ellen Flynn Moats, 90, of Greensboro, died at 3:50 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2008,
in Cloverdale Personal Care Home, Masontown. She was born July 11, 1918, in Georges Township,
Fayette County, a daughter of Peter Francis and Alice Mae Dillow Flynn. Mrs. Moats resided in the
Greensboro area most of her life and enjoyed bowling. She was a member of Mapletown United
Methodist Church, where she served as treasurer of United Methodist Women. On February 24, 1940,
she married Kenneth D. Moats, who died December 10, 1985. Surviving are a son, Robert K. Moats and
wife Jean of Westover, W.Va.; a daughter, Joy Lynne Miller and husband Douglas of Garards Fort;
four grandchildren, Susan Moreland and husband Larry, Douglas Miller Jr. and wife Nellie, Robert
Moats II and wife Amy and Lori Fowler and husband Michael; five great-grandchildren, Melissa,
Amanda and Megan Moreland and Reese and Hadley Moats; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a grandson, Eric Moats; a brother, Peter J. Flynn; and two sisters, Thelma Salyers
and Edith Franks. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in Yoskovich
Funeral Home (724-966-5500), Martin J. Yoskovich, funeral director, 300 South Vine Street (Route
88), Carmichaels, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 30, with Pastor Kenneth
A. Haines officiating. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township.
