He enlisted F Company 11th Inf Regiment Pa RV Corps
Commanded by Col Thomas F Galliher.and was discharged at Pittsburgh
Pa 13 Sep 1864.In his Pension File he states that in the line of duty at
Gains Mills Va on the 27 of Jun 1862 he was shot in the right breast
with buckshot and the command was taken prisoner at the same time
and he escaped from the rebels.And on or about 1 July 1862 at Malvern
Hill he was between the two contending armys at the time of the said
July Battle he was wounded by a stray shot in the left hand causing the
loss of his little finger.In the Battle of the Wilderness on 4 May 1864 he
lost his right arm just below the shoulder.On Jan 17 1865 he recieved
a full disability Pension # 36822 at $8.00 per month.Raised to $15.00
6 Jun 1866 and to $24.00 Jun 6 1876.To $36.00 4 Aug 1886 and then
to $45.00 in 4 Aug 1896 He left Fayette Co Pennsylvania in 1867 and
went to Ashland Boyd Co. Kentucky.In 1870 he married across the Ohio
River from Ashland in Ironton Lawerence Co Ohio and then moved to Greenup
Greenup Co Kentucky back across the Ohio River.He died back again
across the river in Dry Run Scioto Co Ohio.After his death in 1898 his
widow purchased a hill farm in Greenup Kent.She paid $300.00 for 53
acres.Elizabeth Died at her son Shermans home in Hartshorne Okla in
1910.
