76. JACOB VICTOR-770

The Following is taken from a History of La Belle Missouri history
furnished to me by a descendant of the Quail Family (Barbra Miller) She states
My parents live in Lewistown Missouri.A history of LaBelle was written a few
years ago,my aunt has a copy and this is what I copied from it.This tidbit was
written by Jennie Murphy (a distant cousin). In the year of 1857 my father William
Chapman and Uncle Robert Quail came from Uniontown Pa to Locate in Lewis
Co MO,a perfect wilderness at that time.Uncle Bob and Bill Chapman could only find log cabins in the woods to live in.The pioneers at the time were Uncle Jake Haldeman
Uncle Dennis Sutton, and Uncle Jake Victor who had arrived with their families
a few months before and located on farms near La Belle then called LaPrarie.
Robert Quail married a girl by the name of Mary Ann Haldeman. They lived for
a while in Smithfield Pa for a while before moving to La Belle Mo when the town
was 3 years Old.
Jacob Victor was still living at home in the 1850 census of Fayette Co Pa.He
married about 1853 in Fayette Co and his first two children were born there.
About 1856 he migrated west to Missouri where by 1860 two more of his
children were born in 1858 and 1860.He was Married to Elizabeth Haldeman
probably the sister of the above Mary Ann Haldeman.Apparently these families
migrated from Fayette Co together.

77. DAVIS E VICTOR-769

Apparently Davis migrated to Lewis Co Missouri about
1861 following his brother Jacob west where he married and died.
In his wifes obituary he is listed as "David E Victor".His daughter however
carries the middle name of Davis which I believe is was named for her
father.

88. Gertrude Hortense Victor-2106

It is not known by me how Gertrude met and
Married her husband Wm.C Hawkesworth nor how or why they
went to New Orleans where their son Alan was born and eventually
ended up in at Somerset House,Sandy Cove,in the County of Dublin,
Ireland. However I have a copy of her will dated 24th day of April 1876
and a codicil dated Aug 1878 from the above location. It starts out
In the name of God Amen,I Gertrude Hortense Hawkesworth (nee
Victor) formely of New Orleans United States----- It goes on and gives
her 3 childrens names later on in the will and names her husband Wm
as her executor. If he should die she states I hereby appoint my brother
Jacob N Victor at present 48 William St NYC United States(care of Orville
J Victor the firm of Adams and Victor Publishers).
The Hawkesworth family in the late 1700's early 1800's were large
Plantation Owners in the Barbadoes and Jamacia.Apparently they
traveled to New Orleans and NY on business.Probably shipping
goods from their Plantations.
The properties that Gertrude is leaving to her children in Ireland as
it states in her will;
I am entitled and possessed of certain properties in fee form and
otherwise under a deed dated March 2 1876 settled on me by trust
deed of said date Whereof the Reverend Lingleton C Harper of
Cambridge House also of Sandy Cove is my trustee said property
being situated in the and about the town of Rathdowney Queens
County and in and about the city of Killarny County of Killarny and
inCopes Street and Strand Street in the City of Dublin. All of which
property is more particularly described andset forth in the deed of
