My husbands family has records going back to John T. Brewer and Louisa Hereford. They were born in Somersetshire, England and brought most of their family to New York in 1856. They lived in New York for 13 years before coming to Utah and St. Charles, Idaho. I have the census records. Louisa died in New York and John T. married a woman by the name of Barbra. Some of the family must have remained in New York.
Louisa's parents also came to New York...James and Lydia Hereford.
Any information on connecting them to England, would be appreciated.

Can anyone out there help me trace the Brewer family that settled the Bentleigh area? They were market gardeners in the area and Brewer Rd is named after them. I have traced the family back to John Brewer and (wife) Margaret Gorden (both born about 1860) but then the trail goes cold. Johns parents were John and Ann (Hancock) who married <1846 and had their first two kids in Leith, Scotland, before migrating to Australia
