From the Wayne County Newspaper, dated Friday, April 13, 1945. Mrs. Dora Anna Melton. Funeral
service for Mrs. Dora Anna Brewer Melton, age 75 were conducted at the Walnut Grove Cemetery on April
2nd by Rev. Grady Bradford, pastor Collinwood Baptist Church and Rev. Robert Forrester, past of the
Waynesboro Chirstian Chruch. Mrs. Melton was a daughter of the late Richard and Sallie Lackey Brewer
and a life-long resident of this county. Beside her husband, James Richard Melton, she is survived by
three sons, Harvey and Terry Melton of this county and Clarence Melton of Benton; two daughters, Mrs.
Mattie Gallaher of Wayne County and Mrs. Nell Crews of Florence, Alabama. Other survivors include 27
grandchildren and 9 great grand children.
From the Wayne County Newspaper, dated Friday, April 13, 1945. IN MEMORIAM. My loving maid and dear
companion is taken away and I am left alone. It grieves my heart. It is hard to part with one I love
so well, but is pleased the Almightly God to take her home to dwell with the anges. Sleep on, dear
Dora for I will be with you soon. J.R. Melton
