Family records indicate Guy was born in Brownsville, Union, PA, as were his brothers; however,
according to John V. Schroyer of the Registrar of Wills office in Uniontown, PA birth records for Guy
have not been located (dated 1974). Guy Edward Quinn was a coal mining foreman for the Pursglove
Coal Mining company in Pursglove, Monoghalia, WV. He died as a result of a mine fire in the
Pursglove mine fire of January 8, 1943 as he attempted to save the lives of several of his
crew-members. He is buried in the Lawnwood Cemetery of Morgantown, Monogalia, WV. His wife Anna
Rebecca Dunham Quinn was presented the Carnage Medal for his heroism by Eleanor Roosevelt, the wife
of then US President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The medal and newspaper clippings are in the possession
of Richard L. Dotson, Sr, (grandson). Guy Edward Quinn was the twin to Roy Quinn who died as an
infant in PA.
