Notes from Shelley Moats Davis via email on Sept. 7, 2003 about the Wheeler Ancestry

I found a letter when my father passed away May 28, 2000. His name is Herbert James Moats. This
letter is from Agnes Wheeler Rivak my dad's cousin.

January 30, 1986

Dear Herbert:

I was happy to get the letters that you sent me. I would say that the letter to Grandmother Wheeler
was written by Fred Mcnutt. His grandfather was Joel Mcnutt who fought in the Civil War. Fred was a
teacher. He died in 1982 at the age of 81.
The letter from Grandmother Wheeler's sister is interesting. I don't recognize any of the names in
it. It's hard to make out some of the words. I wish she would have signed her name. In the
information from Charles Mcnutt, he just lists Lucinda and Joel as childern of Charlotte and Rueben
Mcnutt. I have heard some family talk about Jennie Crawford, niece of Grandmother Wheeler. Louise is
going to write Marie to see if she knows the sister's name.
my sister Eleanor got this information from Charles Mcnutt. Ruebun Mcnutt took meat out west. Wolves
would attack and eat the meat. A Mcnutt(no first name)fought in the Revolutionary War---King's
Mountain.
From Fred Mcnutt---Jonathan Addis Was A gambler.
My Sister Anita told me that years ago my Dad's cousin(Wheeler)went to Oklahome to work the oil
fields. He wanted my dad to go with him. We might have relatives there.
A few years ago there was a picture in th DAV book of a woman (Wheeler)and her family. I believe she
lived in Oklahoma City. it used to be we never heard the name Wheeler. Now it seems very common.
Again,thank you
Agnes
The following information was given to me by Charles Mcnutt. He is in his eighties and lives in
Ohio.

William Jennings, a bachelor, of England left his estate to his sister, Faimee Matilda Jennings.
Faimee came to America and married Jonathon Addis. Jonathon and Faimee had a son, Jonathon.
this son, Jonathon addis was the father of Henry Addis. Jonathon Addis Sr. had a daughter, Mary
(Polly) Addis. She Married Anthony Layhue. Mary Addis Layhue had a daughter, Charlotte Layhue.
Charlotte Layhue married Reuben(Ruel) Mcnutt. Charlotte and Reuben Mcnutt had a Daughter Lucinda.
Lucinda Married Jacob Wheeler. Charlotte and Reuben Mcnutt had a son Joel Mcnutt who served in the
union Army during the Civil War. Joel Mcnutt married Jane Lee. Their Childern were George Mcnutt,
Bessie (McNutt) Dean, Minnie (Mcnutt) Yeager. George Mcnutt Married Rhonda Zebley. Their Childern
were Charlotte, Fred, Charles Jr., Carrie and Elsie.
This is how some of these people are related to us.
