    From the Wayne County History Book, Vol one Davis Family; Jesse Davis reared his family in and around
    the Cypress Inn area. He retired in his later years and died at the age of 87 at his son, Oliver
    Wilse's home in Waynesboro  His son John T. Nov. 4 1885 was part owner and conductor of a street car
    company that ran from Florance to Tuscumbia. C.Edgar March 6 1888 to Sept 21, 1962 was a farmer and
    preacher in southern Wayne County and North Alabama, Oliver Wilse's Oct 6 1884-Feb 8, 1964 drove a
    mule driven freight wagon in his early years from the rail station in Colllinwood to Waynesboro. Over
    the years he worked as a farmer, deputy sheriff, magistrate and with the county bridge and road
    department. When he was 19 year old he married 15 year old Eliza Pathernia Jane Brewer Dec 1, 1888 to
    Jan 29 1965 on July 23 1904. His bride was from Dog Creek area and was one of the 13 surving children
    born to Jimmie Brewer and Mary Columbia Brewer Brewer. Early in their marriage they lived on Chalk
    Creek and Cat Creek and later moved to their home and mini farm on Highway 64 west on the site  of
    the Colonial Apartments. Mrs. Davis maintained the home while raising chickens, milking cows, raising
    and slaughtering hogs, and cultivation and raising a large garden to aid in rearing a family of seven
    children.  As the family mauried, their children married and for large part, answered the call of the
    industrial north by moving to Toledo, Ohio to rear their family.  
    
    From the Wayne County News, dated 14 February, 1964, Friday Funeral Services for  O.W. Davis are 
    Held On February 11.  Funeral services for Oliver Wilse Davis, 79, of Route 1, Waynesboro, were
    conducted Tuesday afternoon, Feb, 11 at 2 o'clock from First Methodist Church.  Rev. Troy Bunch
    officiated, assisted by  Rev. Tommy Cook. Burial was in Wayne Memory Gardens with Middle Tennesse
    Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Davis died Feb 8 at Coffee Memorial Hospital after undergoing surgery. He
    was a native of Wayne County, a son of Jessie B and Amanda Holt Davis. He was employed by the County
    Highway Department for many years and also served as a Magistrate. He was a member of t he Methodist
    Church.  Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Eliza Brewer Davis; five daughters, Mrs. Truman Lomax of
    Waynesboro, and Mrs. John Anderson, Mrs. Louis Toth, Mrs Grady Moore and Mrs. Roy B. Holt all of
    Toledo, Ohio; a son Marvin Davis of Toledo; a daughter in law, Mrs. Caldwell Davis of Clifton; two
    brother, John Davis of Tuscumbia, and Rev. Edgar Davis of Florence; 10 grandchildren and four great
    grandchildren.

    Hemorrhage, Adenocarcinoma of Pencreas with metastasis to Liver.  Place of Burnial; Memorial Gardens,
    Waynesboro, Tennessee.  Riverside Hospital, 306 Osward Street, Toledo, Ohio.  From the 
    
    Wayne County Newspaper, dated Friday, Februay 5, 1965.  Funeral Services for Mrs. Eliza Davis Held
    Monday at 2:00.  Funeral services for Mrs. Eliza Brewer Davis, 76, of Waynesboro, Widow of O.W.Davis,
    were conducted Monday, February 1, at 2 o'clock from the Waynesboro Methodist Church.  Rev. Troy
    Bunch and Rev. Tommy Cook officiated.  Burial was in Memory Gardens with Middle Tennessee Funeral
    Home in charge.  Mrs. Davis died Jan. 29 at Riverside Hospital in Toledo, Ohio after a long illness. 
    She was a native of Wayne County, a daughter of James and Lum Brewer.  Her husband died Feb. 8, 1964.
     She was a member of the Methodist Church.  Among the survivors are five daughters, Mrs. Hattie
    Anderson, Mrs. Mildred Toth, Mrs. Effie Moore, and Mrs. Bonnie Holt all of Toledo, Ohio and Mrs. Ines
    Lomax of Waynesboro; a son, Marvin Davis of Toledo, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Mollibet Daniels of
    California, Mrs. Sally Nutt and Mrs. Lucille Frazier, both of Hohenwald; three brothers, Rich,
    Clarence and Jasper Brewer all of Waynesboro; a daugher-in-law, Mrs. Caldwell Davis of Clifton, 10
    grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
